Palestine Cinema in Tehran has hosted the opening ceremony of the 7th edition of the Ammar International Popular Film Festival.
The opening ceremony was held on Wednesday, December 28, in presence of several prominent Iranian and international cineastes.
Admiring the quality of films to go on screen at the event, Nader Talebzadeh, director of the festival said “sometimes the work of a documentarian can be more impressive than 10 ministers.”
“Today the youth have an opportunity to challenge those who do not feel responsible via making proper documentaries,” he added.
The program went on with presenting awards for a section of the event on criticism, research and papers on cinema issues.
Ammar International Popular Film Festival goes against promotion of “individualism and extreme enjoyment without caring about the society's troubles and other human suppression,” the event’s official website noted.
